Die Kunstgruppe aus Ungarn wieder in München
Die nun offizielle Kunstgruppe - vier Schmuckdesignerinnen und eine Fotokünstlerin – eröffnete auch 2013 im Rahmen der Budapest Designwoche ihre aussergewöhnliche Ausstellung. Die imposante Installation mit dem Titel REFUGE/ZUFLUCHT wurde in der Faur Zsófi Galerie aufgebaut. Die Werke von Kinga Huber, Orsolya Kecskés, Krisztina Stomfai und Fanni Vékony wurden in den schwebenden, hausförmigen Struktur eingepasst und alle reflektieren Assoziationen der Künstlerinnen auf das Thema Zuflucht. Die Ausstellung wurde mit den Fotos von Mária Pecsics bereichert.
Die Künstlerinnen zeigen das gleiche Material Mitte März in München an der 55. Internationalen Zeitgenössischen SCHMUCK Ausstellung im Off Programm.
Dies ist einer der bekanntesten Ereignissen der Welt betreffend die moderne Schmuckkunst, wo europäische, amerikanische und asiatische Fachkreise – wie Designer, Sammler, Kunsthistoriker und Museologen – sich treffen. Neben den SCHMUCK Hauptprogramm findet man mehr als fünfzig andere, kleinere Schmuckausstellungen.
Die ungarische Kunstgruppe stellt – wie auch letztes Jahr – in den Goldberg Studios aus. Den Besuchern erwartet eine raumspezifische Installation mit unikaten Schmuckwerken und denkenanregenden Fotografien.

DIE KÜNSTLERINEN

HUBER KINGA
Huber Kinga hat ihren Hochschulabschluss im Jahr 1999 an der MOME (Moholy-Nagy Kunst und Design Universität Budapest) im Fach Metallgestaltung MA erworben. Im Jahr 2000 hat sie einen Jahresstipendium von FISE (Verband der Studio der Jungen Designkünstler) erhalten und Tafelbesteck entworfen. Einer dieser Serien bereichert heute die Sammlung des ungarischen Museum der Angewandten Künste.
Die nächsten zehn Jahre arbeitete sie in der Film- und Theaterbranche. In der letzten Zeit entwirft sie wieder Schmuckstücke und sie verfechtet in ihren Arbeiten feinen Humor und mutigen Materialauswahl. Sie ist mit ihren neuen Kunststücken ständiger Teilnehmerin der in- und ausländischen Ausstellungen.
 „In meiner Kindheit lernte ich durch Übung der Muttersprache zuerst den einfachen Sinn der Worte. Als ich später immer mehr verstand, entdeckte ich auch ihre Mehrdeutigkeit, die unser Sprechen nuanciert und die Möglichkeit zu Versteck, Tarnung oder Offenheit bietet. Als ich dann Fremdsprachen lernte – obligatorisch oder aus Liebe – hat sich das Spektrum der Zugehörigkeit und Distanziertheit in meiner Kommunikation erweitert. Wenn ich die Sprache eines Landes spreche, werden die dort Lebenden gastfreundlicher zu mir. Bei der Anfertigung meiner Schmuckstücke habe ich trotzdem eine tote Sprache, Latein gewählt. Diese Sprache überbrückt auf eine merkwürdige Art und Weise Jahrtausende und Ländergrenzen. Alle verstehen sie oder können sie verstehen.“

KECSKÉS ORSOLYA 
Kecskés Orsolya hat ihren Hochschulabschluss im Jahr 1997 an der MOME (Moholy-Nagy Kunst und Design Universität Budapest) im Fach Metallgestaltung MA erworben. Sie gewann zwei Stipendien der Soros Stiftung, ab 2000 war sie drei Jahre lang Lajos Kozma Kunstgewerbe-Stipendiat. Sie arbeitete zwischen 2005-2010 als Lehrerin an der Kunstschule in Szentendre. Sie nimmt an allen in- und ausländischen Ausstellungen teil. Sie ist selbstständig und arbeitet in ihrem eigenen Werkstatt. Sie verfertigt vorallem Schmuckstücke, aber seit 2011 – als Mitglied der Eight Days Design – beschäftigt sie sich mit der Neugestaltung der jüdischen Objektkultur und entwirft auch Gegenstände.
  „Als ich drei Jahre alt war, begann meine Hauptverbündete und Mitspielerin - meine Schwester - zur Schule zu gehen, und ich blieb vormittags allein. Da ich keine Kindergesellschaft hatte, musste ich mich selber unterhalten. Ich setzte mich dann hin und zeichnete, und verbrachte den Tag unter den in meiner Phantasie erscheinenden Königstöchtern und Hexen. Mein Erfindungsreichtum gewährte mir Zuflucht, so dass ich nicht mehr allein war. Diese Gewohnheit ist mir bis heute erhalten geblieben, ich stelle nie dagewesene Geschöpfe und Gegenstände her und versinke tief in meiner Phantasie. Bei der Planung strebe ich nicht danach, dem Rezipienten sichere Anhaltspunkte zu geben. Wer mit meinen Schmuckstücken in Berührung kommt, betritt einen freien Assoziationsraum, in dem er die Formen nach den Möglichkeiten seiner eigenen Vorstellungskraft, auf eigene Art und Weise interpretieren kann.“

PECSICS MÁRIA
Pecsics Mária hat ihren Hochschulabschluss im Jahr 1998 im Fach Fotografie, dann im Jahr 2003 einen Lehrerdiplom an der MOME (Moholy-Nagy Kunst und Design Universität Budapest) erworben. 2014 erwarb sie DLA Grad an der MOME Doktorantenschule. Seit 1998 ist sie Mitglied der Ungarischen Fotokünstler Verband.
Sie ist seit 2011 Assistent an der Medien Institut im Fach Fotografie BA der Kunstfakultät der Universität Kaposvár. Ihr Werk wurde in den Jahren 1998, 2007 und 2008 mit den József Pécsi Fotografen Stipendium unterstützt. Sie wurde 2012 mit dem NKA (National Kultur Fond) Stipendium als Herausragende Schöpferin anerkannt.
 „Die Erde ist mit all ihren Schöpfungen unsere letzte Zuflucht. Wir alle existieren nicht ohne Grund auf diesen Planeten und sind verantwortlich dessen lebenserhaltende Fähigkeit zu bewahren. Es gibt stärkere Arten und schwächere Arten. Der Mensch ist die stärkste, weil er/sie Empathie empfinden kann.
Wenn das richtig ist, das der Mensch allein Empathie empfinden kann, dann ist es SEIN/IHR Aufgabe all die anderen Lebewesen zu beschützen und sie nicht zu vernichten. Mit meinen Werken möchte ich die Aufmersamkeit auf die Abhängigkeit und auf die Schutzlosigkeit der Tiere richten.“

STOMFAI KRISZTINA
Stomfai Krisztina hat ihren Hochschulabschluss im Jahr 1994 an der MOME (Moholy-Nagy Kunst und Design Universität Budapest) im Fach Metallgestaltung MA erworben. Sie arbeitet seitdem kontinuierlich in ihrem eigenen Werkstatt. Sie verfertigt vorallem Kunststücke aus Silber, die man in all den Galerien von Ungarn entdecken kann. Sie gewann 1993 den Lajos Kozma Kunstgewerbe-Stipendium, 1999 den László Moholy-Nagy Design-Stipendium. Sie lehrt ihren Fach seit 1999 an verschiedenen Gymnasien, seit 2008 auch an der MOME. Ihre Werke sind seit zwanzig Jahren an in- und ausländischen Ausstellungen zu sehen.
 „Für mich birgt jeder alte Gegenstand eine Geschichte. Zu einzelnen Stücken habe ich ein intimes – fast emotionales – Verhältnis, ihr Schicksal ist mit meinem Schicksal verwoben und ihr Zerfall geht mit Schmerzen einher. Das ist unabhängig von ihrem Material, ihrer Verarbeitung, sogar von ihrem Wert. Einige Stücke liegen für immer in einer Schublade versteckt, andere kommen von dort heraus, und beginnen ein neues Leben. Ein Leben, das wesentlich vom vorigen abweicht. Meine neuesten Arbeiten sind solche Neuanfänge – alte Gegenstände mit neuen Geschichten.“
Vékony Fanni hat ihren Abschluss im Jahr 2006 an der MOME (Moholy-Nagy Kunst und Design Universität Budapest) im Fach Metallgestaltung MA mit einem Stipendium der Republik beendet und gleichzeitig einen Lehrdiplom erworben. Sie ist seit 2008 Leiterin der Schmied-Sektion bei der FISE (Verband der Studio der Jungen Designkünstler). Sie arbeitet auf Bestellungen, sie verfertigt Medallien/Münzen (zB: für den Ungarischen Design Senat oder für die Ungarische Nationalbank), und auch als Eigen-Kreativ, wobei sie ihre ungewöhnliche Schmuckwerke erträumt. Das ständige Suchen ist ihr sehr characteristisch, sie experimentiert durchgehend mit neuen Materialien und Techniken. Sie gewann 2012 den Schmuck des Jahres Preis.
 „Anfangs bedeutete die Errichtung von Gebäuden Schutz vor den wilden Kräften der Natur. Inzwischen wurde unsere aufgebaute Umgebung zu einem bedrohlichen Dschungel und wir suchen Zuflucht in den Wäldern und Gewässern. Dabei gefährden wir auch die restliche Lebenswelt. Sind wir imstande, das Gleichgewicht zu finden, oder sind die Folgen der durch den Menschen verursachten ökologischen Katastrophen nicht mehr aufzuhalten? Können wir heute Zuflucht bieten für das, vor dem wir einst geflohen sind? 
In meinen Schmuckstücken stelle ich das ambivalente Verhältnis zwischen Mensch und Natur dar: in ihrer Form und in ihren Farben erinnern sie an die Pflanzen und Tiere der letzten, teilweise noch unberührten Orte der Erde, der Gewässer. Jedes Stück wurde jedoch ausschließlich aus künstlichen, durch den Menschen hergestellten Materialien angefertigt.“

Hungarian designers in Munich again
Within the framework of the Budapest Design Week the extraordinary exhibition of a Hungarian art group, involving four jewellery designers and a photographer, was organized again. The exhibition titled REFUGE took place in Zsófi Faur Gallery, where the visitors could take immediate notice of the impressive installation when entering the gallery. The jewels inlaid into a floating structure forming a house were designed by Kinga Huber, Orsolya Kecskés, Krisztina Stomfai and Fanni Vékony using their own individual associations to the concept of refuge. The exhibition makes a complete whole with Mária Pecsics’s photographs, presented together with the jewels.
The designers exhibit this installation in the second week of March in Munich, in the off-program of the 55th SCHMUCK 2014 international contemporary jewelry show. This outstanding series of events is one of the most important modern jewels expo with the participation of European, American and Asian professionals involving designers, art collectors, art historians and museologists. Apart from the central event of SCHMUCK, fifty smaller exhibitions are organized in Munich. The Hungarian group organizes its exhibition in Goldbeg Studios, where they displayed their pieces last year. In the REFUGE/ZUFLUCHT exhibition visitors can see an installation with unique jewels offering a special spatial experience as well as thought-provoking photos. ABOUT THE ARTISTS

HUBER KINGA
Kinga Huber graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 1999 and gained her Master of Arts degree in jewellery design in the same year. She won the scholarship of Studio of Young Designers’ Association in 2000 and started to design silverware. One of her series is now part of the art collection of the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts. In the following ten years she made designs mainly for the theatres and films. Nowadays Kinga designs jewellery again and her pieces are characterised by the courageous composite of gentle sense of humour and material. With her latest pieces of art she is a regular participant of exhibitions both in Hungary and abroad.
 ”When I was a child and adventuring in my mother tongue, it was the meaning of words that I first learnt. Later, when I had grown in knowledge, I realized their multiple connotations that lend nuances, camouflage, concealment or openness to our speech. When I studied foreign languages – out of both obligation and love – the full range of affinity and remoteness in my communication broadened. If I speak the tongue of a country, those living there become more welcoming to me. Yet it was still a dead language I chose when preparing my jewellery. In some strange way, Latin bridges millennia and borders alike. All understand or may understand it.”

KECSKÉS ORSOLYA
Orsolya Kecskés graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 1997 and gained her Master of Arts degree in jewellery design in the same year. She won the scholarship of the Soros Foundation twice and she was awarded the Lajos Kozma Craft and Design Grant for three years. From 2005 to 2010 Orsolya worked as a jewellery design teacher in Szentendre Art School. She is a freelance artist working in her own studio and a regular participant of exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. Mostly she design jewels but since 2001 she designs objects as a member of Eight Days Design, which focuses on redesigning the object culture of Judaism.
”When I was three years old my chief ally and playmate, my big sister, started school and I was left alone in the mornings. Deprived of the company of another child, I now had to entertain myself. At such times I sat down to draw and I filled my days with the princesses and witches of my fantasy. My imagination cocooned me in a refuge where I was no longer alone. My habit has remained up to this day – I make fantastic creatures and objects and become lost in my imaginings. When I am designing a piece, I do not endeavour to provide its beholders with a concrete point of reference. Those who come into contact with my jewellery enter a sphere of free association where they may interpret the forms however they will by using their own imagination.”

PECSICS MÁRIA
Mária Pecsics received her Master degree in photography in 1998, and her art teacher degree in 2003 from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME). Later she gained her DLA degree from MOME Doctorate School. She has been a member of the Association of Hungarian Photographers since 1998. Since 2011 she has been working as an assistant professor in Kaposvár University, teaching photography for BA students in Media Institute of the Faculty of Arts. Her artistic activity was awarded with the József Pécsi Photography Grant in 1998, in 2007 and in 2008. In 2012 she was awarded with the special art grant by the National Culture Fund of Hungary.
"The ultimate refuge for all of us is the Earth and all of its creations. Each of us exists in this planet for a reason and we all take a part to sustain its ability to keep everything alive. There are stronger and weaker breeds. The human being is the strongest one as is possesses the ability for empathy. If it is true that the humans are the only one that is able to sympathise, then it is their task to protect the other living creatures, and not to destroy them. With my work I would like to draw the attention to the vulnerability and helplessness of animals."
STOMFAI KRISZTINA
Krisztina Stomfai graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 1994 and gained her Master of Arts degree in jewellery design in the same year. Since then she has been working in her own studio as a freelancer. Mostly she makes silver jewels, which are exhibited both in the galleries of Budapest and the the countryside. She won the Lajos Kozma Craft and Design Grant in 1994, and the László Moholy-Nagy Design Grant in 1999. Since 1999 she has been teaching future professionals in secondary schools and since 2008 she has also been teaching at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Her works have been exhibited at international and Hungarian art shows and fairs for more than two decades.
”For me each and every old object hides a story. With some pieces I have an intimate, almost emotional relationship; their fates intertwine with mine, and it hurts when they are no more. This is regardless of the stuff they are made of, how they have been fashioned, and even their material value. Some lurk eternally in a drawer; others are released from there and begin new lives – lives that are consummately different from their previous ones. My latest works are such new beginnings – old objects with brand new stories.”

VÉKONY FANNI
Fanni Vékony graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) in 2006 and gained her Master of Arts degree in jewellery design with the Hungarian Republic Fellowship. She also received her degree in teaching from MOME. Since 2008 she has been the head of jewellery design department of the Studio of Young Designers’ Association. Fanni both works in the field applied and autonomous arts, in the former she designs coins and awards (among others for the Hungarian Design Council and the Hungarian National Bank), in the latter she designs her unusual pieces of jewellery. Her pieces are characterised by an endless quest, she is constantly experimenting with new materials and techniques. In 2012 she won the award of the Jewel of the Year.
”In the beginning, the construction of buildings meant protection against the wild forces of nature. Today, the built environment has become a menacing jungle and we seek refuge in the forests, lakes and rivers. In the meantime, we are endangering the rest of the living world. Will we be able to find the balance? Or is the series of man-made ecological disasters unstoppable? Can we now proffer refuge to that from which we once fled?
In my jewellery I portray the ambivalent relationship between humans and nature: the forms and colours of my pieces conjure the last, partially untouched world – aquatic plants and animals – although all are exclusively fashioned from artificial materials, produced by humans themselves.”

Ismét Münchenben a magyar művész csoport!

A 2013-as budapesti Design Hét keretén belül ismét megrendezésre került az immár hivatalosan is egy művészeti csoportot alkotó négy ékszertervező- és egy fotóművész rendhagyó kiállítása. A MENEDÉK című tárlatnak otthont adó Faur Zsófi Galériába belépve a látogató egy impozáns installációval találta szembe magát. A házat formáló, lebegő szerkezet elemeibe illesztett ékszerek négy művész Huber Kinga, Kecskés Orsolya, Stomfai Krisztina, Vékony Fanni egyéni asszociációit idézték a menedék fogalmára. A kiállítást Pecsics Mária fotográfus munkái egészítették ki.
Az alkotók ezt az anyagot mutatják be március második hetében Münchenben, az idén 55. alkalommal megrendezésre kerülő SCHMUCK nemzetközi kortársékszer kiállítás off programjában. A világ egyik legrangosabb, a modern ékszerekhez kapcsolódó eseménysorozata az európai, amerikai és ázsiai szakmai körök – tervezők, műgyűjtők, művészettörténészek és múzeológusok – kiemelkedő seregszemléje. A SCHMUCK központi rendezvénye mellett közel ötven kisebb ékszerkiállítást rendeznek Münchenben.
A magyar csapat – a tavalyihoz hasonlóan – a Goldberg Studios-ban rendezi meg kiállítását. A látogatók a REFUGE / ZUFLUCHT című tárlaton az egyedi ékszerek és a különleges térélményt nyújtó installáció mellett elgondolkoztató fotográfiákat is láthatnak.

A MŰVÉSZEKRŐL  

HUBER KINGA 
Huber Kinga 1999-ben  diplomázott a MOME fémműves-tervező szakán. 2000-ben a FISE éves ösztöndíját megkapva evőeszközöket tervezett. Egyik sorozata ma a magyar Iparművészeti Múzeum gyűjteményét gazdagítja. A következő tíz évben főként filmek és színházak számára tervezett. Az utóbbi időkben ismét ékszereket készít, melyeket finom humor és az anyagok bátor társítása  jellemez. Legújabb munkáival rendszeresen részt vesz hazai és külföldi kiállításokon.
„Gyerekkoromban az anyanyelv gyakorlásával először a szavak értelmét tanultam meg. Később, ahogy egyre többet tudtam, rájöttem a szavak többértelműségére is, melyek árnyaltságot, rejtőzködést, mögébújást vagy nyíltságot adnak beszédünknek. Majd, mikor nyelveket tanultam – kötelezően és szerelemből –, szélesedett az egymáshoz tartozás és a távolságtartás spektruma a kommunikációmban. Ha beszélem egy ország nyelvét, befogadóbbá válnak velem az ott élők.
Mégis egy halott nyelvet, a latint választottam ékszereim elkészítésénél. E nyelv különös módon áthidal évezredeket és országhatárokat. Mindenki érti, értheti.”
KECSKÉS ORSOLYA
Kecskés Orsolya 1997-ben diplomázott a MOME fémműves-tervező szakán. Két ízben nyerte el a Soros Alapítvány tanulmányi ösztöndíját, 2000-től pedig három éven át Kozma Lajos Iparművészeti Ösztöndíjas volt. 2005-2010-ig a Szentendrei Művészeti Iskola ötvös tanáraként dolgozott. Rendszeresen vesz részt külföldi és hazai kiállításokon. Saját műhelyében, önállóan dolgozik. Elsősorban ékszereket készít, de 2011-óta az Eight Days Design tagjaként a júdaika tárgykultúrájának újrafogalmazása során tárgytervezéssel is foglalkozik.
„Három éves koromban, fő szövetségesem és játszótársam, a nővérem, iskolába kezdett járni és én délelőttönként egyedül maradtam. Gyerektársaságom nem lévén, magamat kellett szórakoztatnom. Ilyenkor leültem rajzolni és a képzeletemben megjelenő királylányok és boszorkák között töltöttem a napot. A fantáziám menedéket vont körém, ahol már nem voltam többé egyedül.
Ez a szokásom máig megmaradt, sosemvolt lényeket, tárgyakat készítek, a képzeletembe merülök el. Tervezéskor nem törekszem arra, hogy biztos támpontokat adjak a befogadónak. Aki kapcsolatba kerül az ékszereimmel, egy szabad asszociációs térbe lép be, ahol a saját képzeletét működtetve a maga módján értelmezheti a formákat.”
PECSICS MÁRIA
Pecsics Mária 1998-ban fotógráfusi, 2003-ban pedig tanári diplomát szerzett a MOME-n. 2014-ben DLA fokozatot  szerzett a MOME Doktori Iskolájában. 1998-tól tagja a Magyar Fotóművészek Szövetségének. 2011-től adjunktus a Kaposvári Egyetem, Művészeti Kar, Média Intézetének Fotográfia BA szakán. Alkotói tevékenységét 1998-ban, 2007-ben és 2008-ban Pécsi József Fotográfiai ösztöndíjjal támogatták. 2012-ben az NKA - Kiemelt egyéni alkotói ösztöndíjával ismerték el.
„Mindannyiunk legvégső menedéke a Föld és annak minden teremtménye. Mindannyian okkal létezünk ezen a bolygón és részt vállalunk életmegtartó képességének fenntartásában. Vannak erősebbek és vannak gyengébb egyedek. Az ember a legerősebb, mert képes az empátiára.
Ha igaz, hogy az ember az, aki egyedül képes az együttérzésre, akkor az Ő feladata a többi élőlény védelmezése, nem az elpusztítása. Munkáimmal az állatok kiszolgáltatottságára és védtelenségére szeretném irányítani a figyelmet.”
STOMFAI KRISZTINA
Stomfai Krisztina 1994-ben végzett a MOME fémműves-tervező szakán. Azóta folyamatosan dolgozik saját műhelyében. Főként ezüst ékszereket készít, melyek egyaránt megtalálhatók budapesti és vidéki galériákban. 1993-ban a Kozma Lajos Iparművészeti Ösztöndíjat, 1999-ben a Moholy-Nagy László Formatervezési Ösztöndíjat nyerte el. 1999 óta tanítja a szakmát különböző középiskolákban, 2008 óta a MOME-n. Munkái két évtizede szerepelnek hazai és külföldi kiállításokon.
„Számomra minden régi tárgy egy történetet rejt. Egyes darabokkal bensőséges – már-már érzelmi – kapcsolatom van, sorsuk összefonódik az enyémmel, elmúlásuk fájdalommal jár. Ez független anyaguktól, a megmunkálásuktól, sőt az értéküktől is. Némelyek örökké egy fiókban lapulnak, mások kikerülnek onnan és új életet kezdenek. Olyan életet, ami merőben eltér az előzőtől. Legújabb munkáim ilyen újrakezdések – régi tárgyak új történetekkel."
Vékony Fanni a MOME fémműves-tervező szakán végzett Köztársasági Ösztöndíjjal 2006-ban, majd tanári diplomát szerzett ugyanott. 2008-tól a Fiatal Iparművészek Stúdiójának Egyesülete ötvös tagozatának vezetője. Alkalmazott és autonóm művészeti területen egyaránt dolgozik, előbbiben díjakat és érmeket tervez, (többek között a Magyar Formatervezési Tanács illetve a Magyar Nemzeti Bank számára) utóbbiban szokatlan ékszereit álmodja meg. Jellemző rá az állandó keresés, folyamatosan új anyagokkal és technikákkal kísérletezik. 2012-ben Év Ékszere díjat nyert.
„Kezdetben az épületek létrehozása védelmet jelentett a természet vad erőivel szemben.
Mára az épített környezetünk vált fenyegető dzsungellé és veszélybe sodorjuk az élővilágot. Képesek vagyunk megtalálni az egyensúlyt, vagy feltartóztathatatlan az ember által okozott ökológiai katasztrófák sorozata? Tudunk-e ma menedéket nyújtani annak, ami elől egyszer mi menekültünk?
Ékszereimben az ember és természet ambivalens viszonyát jelenítem meg: formájukban és színeikben az utolsó még részben érintetlen világ, a vizek növényeit és állatait idézik, de mindegyiket kizárólag ember által előállított mesterséges anyagokból készítettem.”
